Tonko Maroević, a friend and author of the monograph, to which this doyen of Croatian painting dedicates the Split exhibition, points out that "it is no exaggeration to say that he always remained faithful to his Mediterranean roots.
As a painter and sculptor, he aspired to the clarity and originality given to him by the intense atmosphere of the south and the feeling of organic connection with nature, and he received both as soon as he opened his eyes to the light of his homeland.
In addition, a good fairy of painting watched over his cradle because he was born into a family that had already - on his mother's side - given an important artist, Mato Celestin Medović. (...)
The exhibition opening for a limited number of guests takes place on Monday, November 15. From November 16 till November 30, you are all welcome to see the exhibition on weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to noon and from 06:00 p.m. to 08:00 p.m.
