DAY OF MARJAN 2021

DAY OF MARJAN 2021

This year's Day of Marjan is on Sunday, May 9, 2021. Like many other activities that accompany the new normal, organizers have adapted it to special measures related to the pandemic. Given the works within the EU project "Marjan 2020 - Brdo prošlosti, oaza budućnosti" and epidemiological measures, the usual festivities for citizens at the First Viewpoint will not happen. However, loyal visitors will still have the opportunity to visit Marjan Park Forest in a slightly different way.

Namely, during the weekend (May 7 - 9), in which citizens of Split celebrate St. Domnius - the patron saint of the City of Split and Day of Marjan, the Public Institution for the Management of Marjan Park Forest (JUPŠ Marjan) offers citizens themed train rides from the Riva to Sedlo.

Train rides will take place on the route Church of St. Francis - Marjan Park Forest Visitor Center - Museum of Croatian Archaeological Monuments - Šantine stine - Sedlo and back to the Riva and the departure station.

In this way, everyone interested will be able to get acquainted with the work of the newly opened Visitor Center (Trumbićeva obala 18, 21000 Split), visit the exhibition "St. Jere on Marjan" at the Museum of Croatian Archaeological Monuments (MHAS), and Šantine stine where they can see the church of St. Jere and the Hermitage, which will be open for this occasion.

The train will run six times a day in the following hours: 11.00 a.m., noon, 01:00 p.m., 04.00 p.m., 05.00 p.m., and 06.00 p.m. all three days of the weekend (May 7 - 9).

On the Day of Marjan itself on Sunday, May 9, in the morning, in front of the Visitor Center and during the morning train rides, a special surprise for children will be the clown Spartanko, who will hang out with the youngest guests.

Train rides on these dates, as well as the children's program, are free for citizens. Please follow the prescribed epidemiological measures when riding the train, as well as during the visit to the Visitor Center, MHAS, and the Church of St. Jere on Šantine stine.

For those who are already accustomed to the fact that every event nowadays must be "online", JUPŠ Marjan has prepared a recording of the concert of the String Quartet "Bozzotti" called "Morning on Sustipan", and will broadcast it via YouTube channel and on the FB page on the Day of Marjan.
