EXHIBITION: FORGOTTEN DALMATIA 1

EXHIBITION: FORGOTTEN DALMATIA 1

Location: Croatian Maritime Museum Split (Glagoljaša 18, 21000 Split, Gripe Fortress)

Opening: Thursday, December 1, 2022, at 12:00 p.m

The exhibition "Forgotten Dalmatia 1" is a logical continuation of the work of Igor Golešauthor of monographs of the same name, on the promotion of authentic views of Dalmatia, from the end of the 19th century to 1960. His Forgotten Dalmatia is the one from old postcards, photos, and old documents as silent witnesses of a time, reminding us of the simplicity of life in an era when so little was needed for happiness, and people lived modestly, cherishing the cult of family and traditional values; all that today is falling apart before the surges of the modern era, at the same time asking ourselves the question of how much we are working to preserve our identity.

The basic set of the exhibition consists of 25 reproduced old photographs of large format from different locations around Dalmatia, and at this exhibition in Split, the author, in cooperation with fellow collectors, expanded the basic set, allowing visitors to see incredible documents related to Dalmatian history from the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as many other original photographs and postcards from that time.

The exhibition will remain open until January 28, 2023.
