Notice of Full Scale International Civil Protection Exercise – Adriatic 2018

National Protection and Rescue Directorate in cooperation with Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, Administration of the Republic of Slovenia for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief, Ministry of the Interior of Montenegro- Department of Emergency Situations (project partners) organize a full scale civil protection exercise - ADRIATIC 2018, which will be performed on May 22-24 in the area of Split Aquatorium. This training scenario will include a collision two ferries due to bad weather conditions, with direct consequences of fire and marine pollution.

The exercise is part of the European Union project and the objective of the exercise is to increase the preparedness of civil protection and improving the response to incidents at sea with the help of EU Mechanism for Civil Protection.

Operative exercise activities will be conducted on May 22, 23 and 24.

May 22 activities will be carried out at sea southeast of Cape Čiovo and in the port of Split, while the 23 and 24 May activities will be carried out at sea in the area southeast of the Cape Čiovo and in the area of the bay Kaštelet in Split.

Along with the local operational forces, international teams from Montenegro, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Sweden will also participate in the exercise and jointly work to eliminate all the consequences of the collision. All participants in the exercise will be placed in Divulje and the volunteer fire department in the Trogir and Kaštela.

Since the exercise simulates potentially real event, the response of emergency services for protection and rescue will be realistic.
