MARCH AT YOUTH CENTER

Location: Youth Center (Ulica slobode 28)

Time: March 1 - March 31, 2024.

Highlighting the most interesting events from the rich program of the Youth Center for March is not easy, but we'll try. In the first week of March, don't miss the play "Sunset is the End" by PlayDrama theater, scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, March 5th and 6th, at 8:00 PM in the Amphitheater. The cast includes Laura Bošnjak, Filip Luka Gospić, and Vid Ćosić, directed by Kristina Grubiša, with Karla Leko as the dramaturge.

On Wednesday, March 6th, starting at 6:30 PM in the Razred, as part of the Krovna tema (Roof Topic program), Gorana Barišić Bačelić, the director of the Šibenik Fortress Culture, will discuss how Šibenik became the cultural center of Dalmatia and an example of good practices in promoting cultural values and opportunities, while also addressing potential challenges, problems, and opportunities they encountered on that journey.

The weekend of March 9th and 10th offers several workshops where you can learn new skills or enhance existing knowledge. The Beginner's Rope Workshop is designed for adults (16+) without previous experience, but those with experience in aerial disciplines can also participate with a specially prepared program. The workshop will be led by b from the Circus Collective.

The "Body as Sound, Sound as Body" workshop explores the relationship between sound and movement through a series of improvisational tasks based on basic musical elements such as rhythm, melody, and harmony. The workshop is intended for participants with dance background (regardless of dance type) and will take place on Saturday and Sunday, March 9th and 10th. The teacher is Nastasja Štefanić Kralj, a dance artist, musician, and dance and music educator.

On Sunday, March 10th, there is also the "Awareness and Movement: Flow and Upper Body Centers" workshop, focusing on the awareness of energy flow through the body in motion. The workshop continues from the previous one in Cycle 4 and will explore and open up energetic movement from the upper two centers: the head and the heart. The teacher is Nataša Pavlov.

March also includes numerous other workshops and lectures: Lighting Workshop (March 8-10), public lecture "Film Language" (March 12), Sound Workshop (March 15-17), Weekend Workshop Series of Contemporary Dance and Movement - Winter Release (March 16-17), public lecture "Film Style" (March 19), Silk Workshop for Beginners (March 23-24), Experimental Film Workshop (March 23 - April 2), Editing Workshop (March 24-28).

Young people, decision-makers, and those working with young people will have a unique opportunity to stay informed about current issues and exchange experiences and opinions on youth involvement in a public discussion titled "Youth Involvement - What's Next?" scheduled for Tuesday, March 19, at 6:00 PM in the Razred, organized by the Info Zone. Why it is important to involve young people in decision-making processes, whether the Youth Councils Act is unconstitutional, and what alternative models of youth involvement are, are just some of the topics of discussion.

The seventeenth edition of the cult storytelling festival "Pričigin" in Split will mostly be held at the Amphitheater of the Youth Center this year. Over four evenings from March 19 to March 22, more than 30 storytellers, including Croatian and foreign writers, professional storytellers, and storytellers from other professions, will entertain the audience.

This March, you can enjoy three exhibitions. Until March 21, the exhibition "Krakelure, Pavo, and I" by Slaven Tolj is open at the MKC Gallery, and immediately after its conclusion, a new exhibition opens on March 21 at 8:00 PM at the Kocka Club Gallery. This is the exhibition "I Think I Remember" by the multimedia artist, photographer, and cinematographer Sanja Bistričić. At the end of the month, on March 28, another opening is planned at the MKC Gallery. It is a collective exhibition titled "Digital Oxymoron" reflecting on the material side of digital technologies through artistic practices.

The musical program at the Kocka Club is also unavoidable, and these are just some of the names you can expect on Kocka's stage until the end of March: TAMAN w/ Allan, El Commando, Kommoda (March 8), Desperado night XX (March 9), Piknik Park (March 16), Deception Soundsystem (March 22), Street Resistance - Bustle in the 16th (March 23), PULP w/ Anako & El Commando (March 29).
