Ante Jerkunica and Friends - Split Circle
Bass Ante Jerkunica, along with his colleagues and friends, mezzo-soprano Žana Marendić, violinist Marica Rogošić, cellist Sunčana Tušek, pianist Zoran Velić, and conductor/pianist Hari Zlodre, are preparing a gala evening featuring the most attractive opera excerpts. The performance will include well-known pieces such as Rossini's "La calunnia" from The Barber of Seville, arias from Camille Saint-Saëns' Samson and Delilah, and Georges Bizet's Carmen. They will also shine a light on lesser-known repertoire, including excerpts from Rossini's The Italian Girl in Algiers and Massenet's Don Quichotte.
The celebrated bass will showcase his Verdian phrasing in two foundational arias from the bass repertoire – the moving aria "Fiesco" from Simon Boccanegra and King Philip's aria "Ella giammai m'amó!" from Don Carlos. The operatic excerpts will be interwoven with instrumental pieces by F. Chopin, F. Mompou, P. Mascagni, and J. Massenet, performed by some of Split's most prominent musicians.
