Location: Photo Club Split (Marmontova 5, 21000 Split)
The opening of the large exhibition "110 years of the Photo Club Split - a big retrospective" is on Tuesday, June 15 at 9 p.m.
The exhibition brings a cross-section of the rich history of one of the oldest associations in Split. The exhibit follows the club's work throughout history, from the founding of Photoklub - a club of amateur photographers in 1911, through the re-establishment in 1950 until the present day.
The exhibition will feature authentic documents from the rich archive of the association that will bring visitors closer to the importance and role of Photo Club Split in the context of the local cultural and artistic scene. There will be documents that testify to the work and development of the association - the first statute, documents related to the association, etc. The communist government took away exhibition space on Riva from the association and gave it to JAT in exchange for the association allocated space in Marmontova street, where the Photo Club is today). Also on display will be documents and photographs that testify to the rich cultural exchange, which took place between Photo Club Split and other photo clubs during the fifties, sixties, and seventies, enabling the Split audience to meet the most prominent photographers in Europe and the world - guest photographers from Italy, France, the USSR and photos of members of the Photo Club Split at exhibitions in Sydney, USA, and throughout Europe.
The exhibition is taking place with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia, the City of Split, the Tourist Board of the City of Split, and the Split-Dalmatia County, and you can see it until July 13, 2021.
Visitors are kindly requested to adhere to the epidemiological guidelines during their stay at the Gallery of the Photo Club Split.
