Location: House of Language and Culture Peristyle (Poljana kraljice Jelene 1, 21000 Split)
Time: Friday, September 25, at 8 p.m.
After successful and well-attended events during the summer months in our House of Language and Culture - Peristil powered by OTP, we open the autumn program with a concert by the City Mandolin Orchestra Sanctus Domnio.
The Sanctus Domnio Mandolin Orchestra was founded in 1990 with the intention of multiple educational tasks and cultural renewal of young generations and is under the direction of conductor Vladimir Lukas. The orchestra has held a large number of concerts at home and abroad, regularly performing at the Croatian Mandolin Festival Mandolin Imota, where it won first prizes.
In its repertoire, the orchestra has numerous compositions composed for mandolin ensembles and arrangements of compositions for other orchestras of contemporary and classical composers.
A circle of local, primarily Split and Dalmatian composers was formed around the orchestra, who decided to compose for this instrument, encouraged by the existence of a performer who is ready to perform, technically and artistically, demanding compositions. This is how the idea of a concert called Contemporary Split Authors was born.
Admission is free, but the number of places is limited following the prescribed epidemiological measures with the obligation to wear a face mask.
