Camerata Academica, wind sextet, Academy of Music Ljubljana, Slovenia - Karolina Šantl Zupan, flute; Matej Šarc, oboe; Jože Kotar, clarinet; Zoran Mitev, bassoon; Jože Rošer, horn; Miha Rogina, saxophone

The ensemble Camerata Academica brings together top Slovenian musicians, including professors from the Academy of Music in Ljubljana and members of the Slovenian Philharmonic. Many works have been specifically composed for the Camerata Academica, including Simon Kravos's composition, "Sextet."

In addition to the piece by the young Slovenian composer, the program includes "Intrada" for alto saxophone and wind quintet by the German-American neoclassical composer from the 20th century, Bernhard Heiden, notable for a series of works for alto saxophone. Leoš Janáček's wind sextet, "Mládí," is a late but sonically innovative work in which Janáček uses musical themes and songs from his childhood.

In the company of the great Czech composer, three French composers from the 20th century are featured, whose works are considered anthological achievements for wind ensembles: Marc Eychenne with his "Sextet," Henry Tomasi with "Printemps: Réveil des oiseaux" and "Danse des oiseaux" (Spring: Awakening of Birds and Dance of Birds) for wind sextet and saxophone, and the famous "Scaramouche" by Darius Milhaud, a suite for alto saxophone and wind quintet arranged by Don Stewart. The program also includes the Macedonian song "So maki sum se rodio jas" arranged by Saša Livrinšek.
