DAYS OF THE TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY SCHOOL SPLIT - Fit Split RCK

DAYS OF THE TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY SCHOOL SPLIT - Fit Split RCK

As part of this year's Month of Gastronomy, which is being organized for the second consecutive year by the Tourist Board of Split, the Tourism and Hospitality School Split, as part of the Establishment of the Regional Center of Competence in the Tourism and Hospitality Sector - FitSplit RCK Project, is participating in a series of educational activities for students and all stakeholders in tourism. These activities are also attractive to tourists and the residents of the city of Split. The aim of these open events is to promote the sustainable future of Croatian tourism based on natural resources, rich cultural heritage, and traditional culinary values to the general satisfaction of citizens and to the benefit of not only the local community but also the entire economy of Croatia.

Students, who are the main participants in these events, supported by their teachers and renowned experts in the wine and gastronomy sector, have the task of presenting the main guidelines of sustainable tourism, with this year's focus, according to UNWTO guidelines, being on green tourism.

The Mediterranean diet is the foundation of the identity of the people living in this area and the result of various cultures and influences that are continuously passed down from generation to generation as the basis for shaping the cultural identity of the Croatian Adriatic, its coastline, islands, and hinterland. An essential part of this story is the pairing of wine with food as a prerequisite for providing top-notch gastronomic and oenological enjoyment for citizens and visitors.

Our task is to preserve this rich heritage and pass it on to the new generations so that it is not lost under the influence of contemporary lifestyles, emphasizing the connection between sustainable tourism and the natural sources of raw materials specific to Mediterranean gastronomy.

By investing in the education of future tourism professionals, with a focus on the Tourism Development Strategy of the Republic of Croatia and the National Recovery and Resilience Plan 2030, we work on promoting our national identity and heritage values, with the long-term goal of developing a sense of responsibility for their preservation among tourists and visitors in the future.
