The Split Festival (Festival zabavne glazbe Split ili Splitski festival) is a music festival dating from 1960. It is one of the most important music festivals in Croatia. Since its inception, the festival has had over 800 compositions by the country’s most famous composers.

This year, for the first time, the festival atmosphere will spread beyond the framework of Prokurative - the Republic Square (three days from July 8 to July 10, 2021), where it has traditionally been taking place for decades. Other parts of the city center will be included - Riva (9 days from July 3 to July 11, 2021) and Peristil (July 7, 2021). The event itself will be developed for the entire festival week shortly before the main festival evenings with rich content for all citizens and visitors of Split. In this way, organizers want to give a new dimension to the Split Festival, which will become the main event of the city in July.
"From July 3 to July 11, the festival events will focus on the most famous city promenade - Riva. First of all, we want to offer people enjoyment after all this unfortunate situation with the COVID-19, and also show tourists and guests of our city our traditional musical heritage, which we are immensely proud of. This year we are very much looking forward to the fact that people will experience the festival and all the events on the Riva in a different way."- said Tomislav Mrduljaš, director of the Dalmatia Concert, organizer of the Split Festival.
So Split will finally, if the opportunities with the COVID-19 allow, in July abound in the musical events to which it is accustomed. In the nine festival days that will take place on the Riva (from July 3 to July 11) and the three main ones on Prokurative (July 8, 9, and 10) with a grand opening concert, retrospective evening, and the grand finale of new songs - fun will be guaranteed.
