EXHIBITION:"THE WINTER '94"

EXHIBITION:"THE WINTER '94"

Location: Gallery of the Croatian War of Independence Museum in Split (Mike Tripala 6)

Date: November 27, 2024 – April 15, 2025

The Winter ’94 exhibition commemorates the 30th anniversary of the joint operation of the same name conducted by the Croatian Army (HV) and the Croatian Defence Council (HVO). The operation was carried out under harsh winter conditions on Mount Dinara and in the Livanjsko Polje region. It marked a significant step forward in the liberation of occupied parts of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, creating a “wedge” in Livanjsko Polje that later enabled Croatian forces to advance towards Knin.

The exhibition features items from the collection of the Croatian War of Independence Museum in Split, as well as materials from various contributors who themselves participated in Operation Winter ’94. These include military uniforms, equipment, and weaponry. Exhibition panels are equipped with authentic photographs, military plans and maps, and newspaper articles from the period. The aim of the exhibition is to present to the broader public the importance of the operation for the course and ultimate outcome of the Croatian War of Independence.
