Official Naming of the Concert Hall after Ivo Tijardović
The Grand Hall of the Croatian Home Split will carry a new name from this season, borrowing it from one of the most important musical and cultural figures of Split, Ivo Tijardović, whose contributions were extensive and far-reaching: his operettas have reached us, with their melodies and unforgettable characters woven into the identity of Split. Ivo Tijardović was also the first president of the Croatian Composers' Society and one of the first conductors of the Zagreb Philharmonic.
Since its founding in 2001, under the leadership of Berislav Šipuš, Cantus Ensemble has been dedicated to performing, researching, promoting, and encouraging the production of contemporary Croatian music. They are equally engaged in the latest developments on the international music scene. A special project is dedicated to composers from the Split Circle, with which the ensemble won the Judita 58 award at the 2012 Split Summer Festival. The ensemble nurtures and expands this program for a new performance that will open the 2023/2024 season at the Croatian Home Split.
