CROATIAN DRAMA FESTIVAL - 31ST MARULIĆ DAYS

CROATIAN DRAMA FESTIVAL - 31ST MARULIĆ DAYS

Location: Croatian National Theater Split - HNK Split (Trg Gaje Bulata 1, 21000 Split)

The Croatian Drama Festival - 31st Marulić Days will take place from October 15 to October 26, 2021.

The grand opening of the 31st Marulić Days festival will be in October, 2021, at the Croatian National Theater in Split.  At the grand opening, the Marul award for the best achievements of the previous festival edition and the Marin Držić Drama Award for 2020 will be presented.

The selected plays are thematically diverse - dealing with the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, talking about loneliness, alienation, and depression, questioning the corruption and bribery of high-powered people humorously, and dealing with the echoes of the Homeland War tragedy. Few plays intelligently observe the eternal side of male-female relationships. This festival edition features strong female characters in the plays, brave, vulnerable, and proud, sometimes larger than life.

The festival program is available HERE.

In addition to the official program, there will be a rich accompanying program: public reading of the first-prize-winning play with the Marin Držić Drama Award for 2020, drama workshops led by prominent playwright Tomislav Zajec and book promotion. On the occasion of the five hundredth anniversary of the first edition of Judith (Marko Marulić), in whose sign the Festival will take place, several events will be organized under the auspices of the City of Split and the city's cultural institutions. There will also be a traditional poetic manifestation Ča, more, judi on Šolta, with the laying of a wreath on the house of Marko Marulić in Nečujam.
