Project "Stories from the Hat" at the Meštrović Gallery  - Meštrović's Storytelling for Children.

Jasmina Aleksandra Žiljak is a well-known storyteller, and in the "Stories from the Hat" project, she will narrate stories about Ivan Meštrović using the Kamishibai theater technique in four dramatic performances for children. The illustrations from Meštrović's life will come to life, and the dramatization will be enriched with real fragments from Meštrović's life, such as his hats, hence the name of the project. The program is intended for children, and the Meštrović Gallery has been transformed into a children's theater for the first time. The project's goal is to create new content for children and bring the theme of Ivan Meštrović closer to younger generations. Additionally, the Museums of Ivan Meštrović aim to show that Meštrović is an inexhaustible subject and a constant inspiration for artists who, inspired by Meštrović, create new artistic works. Among the young audience, there will undoubtedly be some "new Meštrovićs."

"Stories from the Hat" in terms of content and visuals are developed based on books published in the "Easy-to-Understand Book" series. This series was launched in 2017 as part of the publishing activities of the Museums of Ivan Meštrović, with the aim of making content accessible to children, youth, and individuals with intellectual disabilities through illustrated books with simple yet informative content. Four editions have been published so far: "Ivan Meštrović," "Ivan Meštrović in Split," "Ivan Meštrović in Vienna," and "Ivan Meštrović in Paris." The author of the books is museum advisor Maja Šeparović Palada, and they were created in collaboration with illustrators and the Association for Self-Advocacy Zagreb, as well as individuals who conducted a readability check of the text. The books in this edition are intended for everyone, especially those facing difficulty reading and understanding, those seeking simple content and basic information on the topic, or those not proficient in the Croatian language. These editions are part of the inclusive concept of "museums for all."
