The celebration begins on Friday, September 22, at 11 a.m. in front of the church of St. Jerome on Marjan Hill, where the "St. Jerome" art colony will be open. A total of 24 artists, painters, and sculptors have confirmed their participation and will present their artistic interpretations of this saint.
These are eminent authors established on the Croatian art scene and beyond, spanning multiple generations. Artists such as Goran Balić, Duje Botteri, Nikola Džaja, Kažimir Hraste, Petar Jakelić, Kuzma Kovačić, Đani Martinić, Duje Matetić, Matko Mijić, Dijana Iva Sesartić, Ana Marija Botteri, Josip Botteri Dini, Željko Bubalo, Alma Čače, Vladimir Davidenko, Lili Gluić, Karin Grenc, Ivan Listeš, Zvonimir Mihanović, Tea Morić Šitum, Hrvoje Marko Peruzović, Vice Tomasović, Marko Gugić, and Frane Šitum will create their works inspired by St. Jerome.
The organizers of the colony are the Split-Dalmatia County, the University of Split, and the Parish of the Holy Cross in Veli Varoš.
The works produced during this art colony will be on display starting from Thursday, September 28, as the exhibition will open at 11 a.m. on that day at the University Gallery, representing an artistic space that has become the epicenter of cultural events in the Split art scene.
On Friday, September 29, at 9 a.m., the International Scientific Symposium "Faces of St. Jerome" will open at the Bishop's Palace in Split.
On the same day, at 8 p.m., at the Croatian National Theater in Split, the premiere screening of the documentary film "Our St. Jerome," authored by Antonija Hrvatin Roth, the editor of the religious program of Croatian Radio Television, will take place. The film was initiated by the Split-Dalmatia County and filmed in Split, Solin, Jerusalem, Rome, and other locations related to the life and work of St. Jerome.
