PLACE MARKET - SPLIT

PLACE MARKET - SPLIT

Location: Green Market Split

Dates: April 21 - May 26, 2023 (Fridays) except May 12 (Firday) & May 19 (Friday)

PLACE market - a project that revives Croatian markets

The idea of the project is to revive the market every Friday after working hours so that some of the most famous local and national chefs and restaurateurs come to it and its benches and prepare for the visitors on the spot specialties that they are known for or that they specially designed for this event.

This year, it will take place every Friday in Split at Stari Pazar (Green Market Split) from April 14 to the end of May 2023, and then, from June 2, it will move every Friday to Zagreb to the Zagreb market, Dolac.

With this project, once a week in the evening, the markets actually become a natural stage where the gastronomic tradition and offer of the cities where the project takes place are presented, thus revitalizing the markets as places of gathering and socializing. From the farm to the table, or in this case - from the field to street food, is the guiding thread of the project in which the most well-known national chefs are involved.

For the first time, some of the best national chefs and restaurateurs of the city of Split are taking to the streets:

  • Chef Hrvoje Zirojević in front of the restaurant Dvor,
  • Artičok restaurant,
  • restaurant Bokeria in collaboration with confectioner Ivana Čuljak,
  • Kinoteka restaurant with chef Jurica Jantolek,
  • Mazzgoon Restaurant,
  • restaurant ZOI,
  • restaurant Šug headed by chef Duja Kanajeta,
  • restaurant Uje,
  • Galerija restaurant,
  • MakaMaka Acai & Poke Bar & Sushi,
  • bistro Ka Doma,
  • tavern Otprilike ovako,
  • tavern Hvaranin.

Along with the food and the offer at the bars, there will also be a DJ and sometimes street bands, who will additionally spice up these gatherings on Fridays in the afternoon. There are also some workshops planned, followed by educational and informative activities such as the presentation of the Climate Cookbook and introducing visitors to the impact of gastronomic activities on climate change, as well as OPG pop-up stands and cooperation with Croatian product designers.
