After a two-year hiatus due to COVID, the city's traditional Flower Festival event is returning this time in a new term - as an announcement of spring.
The event takes place from 21 to 27 March 2022 at two locations with several different thematic programs!
The very name of the event, "Europe is blooming in the middle of Split", announces that it is an international event, which raises the entire event to another higher level. It will host flower designs and florists from Denmark, Hungary, Slovenia, and Poland, who will work together with fellow florists from all over Croatia to arrange the premises of Diocletian's cellars. All activities will be carried out under the leadership and project of Simon Ogrizek, President of Florinto - an international organization of florists!
An important guideline in planning and implementation is the safety and protection of historical heritage.
The exhibition is designed for this year in terms of decorating the room with a selection of flowers and other materials that will reflect the Mediterranean, flora, and history of the Mediterranean in a modern edition.
As part of the Flower Festival, there will be a presentation for florists, and the presenter will be Polish florist Tomasz Max Kuczynski, so this part is closed and intended for florists, but visitors will be able to see all floral arrangements during the event!
As part of the Flower Festival, the Florist Forum of the Croatian Chamber of Trades and Crafts will take place for the first time, where the panel will discuss the current situation in the florist profession.
This year's Flower Festival is expanding to the Riva area, where the occasional sale of flowers will take place. The flower sale has a symbolic humanitarian character, where flower producers from Sisak, Glina, Petrinja, and Topusko will sell flowers and seedlings, giving our fellow citizens the opportunity to a direct way to help flower growers in earthquake-stricken areas!
In addition to the occasional sale of flowers, the Riva will host a "handmade" fair in cooperation with Žnjan d.o.o., which will be attended by family farms, home crafts, beekeepers, and honey producers, producers of natural cosmetics based on flowers and herbs.
In cooperation with Parkovi i nasadi d.o.o., the arrangement of one city street, kindergarten, and public area is being prepared. As an announcement of the Flower Festival, the green area near the Golden Gate of the Diocletian's palace has already been arranged, where new flower beds have been formed, and primroses have been planted.
This event, just before the start of the tourist season, aims to draw attention to the need to create a quality and unique offer of souvenirs that can be food or decorative and useful items.
The organization of the event is in the hands of the Association of Craftsmen Split, in co-organization with the city companies Žnjan d.o.o. and Parkovi i nasadi d.o.o., under the auspices of the City of Split, the Tourist Board of Split and the Split City Museum.
