FEAST OF ST. DOMNIUS AND THE DAY OF THE CITY OF SPLIT

FEAST OF ST. DOMNIUS AND THE DAY OF THE CITY OF SPLIT

Feeling of belonging to St. Domnius, the patron saint of our city will remain the same even though this year, due to the epidemic, traditional events within Sudamja will be absent. The secular part of the celebration of the most significant city holiday will adapt to the circumstances and current epidemiological measures. Thus, on May 6, a ceremony will be at the Croatian National Theater in Split, where the City of Split will present awards to this year's laureates. Following the epidemiological circumstances with no public gatherings, the Feast of St. Domnius and the Day of the city of Split will be celebrated within the city institutions.

The exhibition "Judita", on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of Marko Marulić's first edition of Judita, will open in the renovated Old Town Hall on the Pjaca square. In the Gallery Diocletian of the Split City Museuman exhibition on Italian design "Rosso, il colore della passione" takes place, realized in cooperation with the General Consulate of Italy. Concerts for a limited number of spectators, which will broadcast via digital networks, will continue at the Croatian House (Hrvatski dom). On the occasion of Sudamja, on May 3concerts by Matej Meštrović and Kristina Bjelopavlović Cesar, and on May 5, 2021opera soloists Valentina Fijačko Kobić and Domagoj Dorotić were announced.

This year, like last year during the first wave of the epidemic, there will be no traditional events such as the Sudamje fair, raffle, concert on the waterfront, a large bowl on the fish market, and an annual regatta of rowing legends. There will also be no Feast of St. Cross, neither the Ballot Tournament nor the performances of Split's KUDs on the Riva.

The Archdiocese of Split and Makarska will hold daily Mass at 06:00 p.m. from April 28, as a part of the Novena, which will broadcast live on TV Laudato and social networks. The Central Mass on the feast of St. Domnius, May 7, starts at 10:00 a.m. and will be led by Archbishop Coadjutor Msgr. Dražen Kutleša. There will be more Holy Masses, following epidemiological circumstances, on the feast of St. Domnius than in previous years - 07:00 and 08:00 a.m. and 04:00, 06:00 and 08:00 p.m.

In anticipation of the celebration of the feast of St. Domnius, the patron saint of the most beautiful city in the world, we present a new video of the Children's Choir Srdelice for the song "Dragi Splite moj (My dear Split)" - the old song of "srdelice" which received a new sound and new image.
